So recently these past few months, those virtual youtubers starting to get more popular. I got curious about what is so special on them. Looks like you got your rivals vocaloids. But nah, they’re different, or so that’s what google gave me. So I’m going to go more on deep research about them, as you can see I am also a virtual internet adventurer.
The first and most popular is of course Kizuna Ai, so here’s a picture of what she looks like. She’s so popular she even had her own nendoroid version. Because you might have seen her mostly on cosplay events, and you’re digging your mind to remember what anime is it, no, she doesn’t have an anime series, so stop asking ‘what anime’. You might think that people love her so much because she’s cute, but no, she also throw f-words just like some other streamers. She plays PUBG, Doki Doki Literature Club, Fortnite as well. But don’t worry unlike other streamers on twitch or youtube, they don’t have Patreon, at the moment I think.
But wait there are also other virtual youtubers, just like how Hatsune Miku has friends like Luka, Rin, Ren and so on. The very first is her formidable rival, Luna Kaguya.
Another is Shiro a virtual youtuber who wish to become an idol.
A bit different is Aoi Fuji, most of what she is cover anime song.
As you can see virtual youtubers is a complete set they even have a ghost, Reiden Kasuka. There’s also Zombi-ko a zombie virtual youtuber, if you’re a fan of Walking Dead and an anime fan at the same time. Actually there are more other virtual youtubers, too many I can’t list all of them. Not because it will take me a day or two it’s just I’m currently lazy to do it.
But wait hardcore anime fans self proclaimed otakus, shut-ins. They are no intelligent as Terminators. Heck they can’t even solve a captcha. Behind that cute virtual youtubers is a dude… maybe or I could be wrong. Because they are produce from motion capture software. In other words it’s just same on what other human youtuber do, recording themselves sitting on gaming chair playing some games, throwing f-words. So basically it’s just a person too and not some pure artificial intelligence 2D girl. If you hoped something else, then I think you’ve been watching too much anime.
Here I am going to share some things I found online. Norakyatto a virtual youtuber. While having her live stream, a glitched occurred revealing her face. Now we are going to use the word ‘he’ because as you can guess his faced shown while streaming, he looks like a middle aged man. The glitch last a second but you can’t hide from thousand of viewers that is watching. The incident goes viral and got mixed of different criticism. We must remember the old internet rule that nobody is a girl until proven or doesn’t have picture or using female avatar, something like that because I can’t remember it.
Of course there will be still some people who wants to be virtual youtuber and make a youtube channel then play some battle royale games. Don’t worry you don’t need to learn some deep programming, some animation skills or hire some freelance. Puppemoji is to the rescue, it can be easily downloaded on your mobile phone. But it’s only on iPhone. But don’t lose hope if you don’t have an iPhone or hate Apple or just simply can’t afford an iPhone, or whatever the reason. There is another app called HoloLive, works both Android and iPhone.
Moving back to Kizuna Ai. You can download her at ther official website, she’s only 4.11MB don’t worry. Her twitter and youtube is linked on her website as well. About how Kizuna Ai started, she of course posted videos on Nicovideo, Japanese version of youtube. Some says, that when she’s just starting and doesn’t have many viewers, her page rise fame when a facebook page shares a video of her, that time English viewers discovers her channel, because most English viewers don’t visit Nicovideos, unless you have a Japanese friend or a member of big anime discussion forum. Currently her channel has 2 million subscribers and expected to grow more, because people are already familiar with common youtubers, means they are finding a special or fresh new contents plus there are more people who started watching anime so the anime industry is also a big factor that affects virtual youtubers. Unlike those 2D anime characters, Kizuna Ai is not scripted on what she’s going to do or what her actions will be. She even have twitter account where she can express her thoughts. So overall she’s so popular not only taking over youtube but reddit and pixiv as well. Her most viewed videos with 3.6 millions views is ‘Playing a game with only your voice challenge’. That’s a lot of views. Like any other channels, she also has haters that reported her, there is a time that her channel got disabled.
But if you belong to the people who hates subtitles and prefers English more, there are also virtual youtuber that speaks English. Because you know, the comment sections of youtube is sometimes full of Japanese, but these channels has English viewers so you can blend in. You might want to check out the channel of Sakura Fujima. Speaks both English and Japanese.
Woah wait, there is not only bilingual, but guess what, there is also trilingual or multilingual virtual youtuber. The most that stands out in this category is, Otonashi Rhythm, Othonashi means without a sound. On her introductory video she also said that she’s currently learning French and other language. Because she wants to unite the virtual world, nice dream. Her comment section is mix of Japanese, English, German fans making it a nice place. Not only she play games just like other virtual youtubers and streamers, she gives some language lessons too like German and Japanese.
Those anime virtual youtuber is actually entertaining and can kept you entertained for long period of times. But the thing is sometimes you just can’t really predict of what video will they going to release in future.
